Which Pokémon game is the saddest in the franchise?

A group of Pokémon fans came together to decide which is the saddest game in the franchise, whether it’s for its story or the legend behind the legendaries, it’s the Pokémon game that made fans cry.

Fans of the monster collecting franchise are still debating their favorite Pokémon, generation, or game. However, this time, the trainers discuss which Pokémon game left them with a sour taste after its end.

For Pokémon players, it’s not just about capturing them all, but the journey, the friends you made along the way, and how you reached the goal of becoming the Champion. It’s been this way since the first generation games were released in 1996.

However, some trainers believe that some of the Pokémon games had quite bitter endings, and here are the reasons that made them think so.

This was posted in the Pokémon subreddit by user ‘frzvader3559,’ and it immediately sparked a debate.

The author also stated his reason for believing that the Hoenn remakes were the games that made him sadder: “I was recently playing Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire again and when I finally beat the game, I just felt some sort of complex emotion of sadness after beating May, like I was never going to fight her again. And the nostalgia of playing that when I was really young hit me differently than it did then.”

Most gamers also agree that Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are the most heartbreaking games in the entire franchise, but some of them believe that the recent Generation 9 games are also quite close in the ranking of dark emotions.

One player said: “I felt really bad for Arven at the end of Violet. Just dark.” While another added: “I see this opinion a lot, but I think people are missing the point. Things WERE dark for Arven, and he felt alone all this time, but now he finally has friends to travel with. I think it’s a much more optimistic ending for him.”

On the other hand, a Reddit user named ‘itrashcannot’ complained about the fact that the game doesn’t even let you tap Arven’s head: “The game didn’t even give us the option to take him in arms or say encouraging words. Let me comfort my boy.”

Surprisingly, Hoenn’s games and Paldea’s games are the saddest for fans. But luckily for Arven and company, it gets better during the Mochi Mayhem epilogue quest. And the trainers are also enjoying their trip to Blueberry Academy, so there’s no reason to be sad.
