YouTuber WhistlinDiesel recently traveled to Los Angeles to support community members and firefighters combating severe wildfires. His efforts came in response to criticism from some who labeled him a “liability.”
The ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles have wreaked havoc, forcing thousands of residents to evacuate their homes as of January 10. The devastation has been so extensive that many creators have described the aftermath as “apocalyptic,” featuring burnt vehicles scattered amid lands that are now nothing but rubble.
Amid this turmoil, WhistlinDiesel took it upon himself to assist those affected. However, his intentions were met with skepticism, as evidenced by numerous comments on his Instagram account.
WhistlinDiesel’s On-the-Ground Assistance for LA Wildfire Victims
Through his Instagram account, WhistlinDiesel shared poignant images of the wildfire’s impact, as well as a truck he acquired from 405 Motoring specifically for aid purposes.
Despite his efforts, one commenter criticized him, stating, “You are nothing but a liability. And you aren’t going to be any help.” Additionally, some accused WhistlinDiesel of attempting to profit from the tragedy. However, he swiftly addressed these claims.
In response, he posed a rhetorical question: “If I’m just gonna be in the way, why is the fire department taking pictures with me after I donated 20 cases of water?” He highlighted this moment by sharing a photo with the fire team.
Later that day, Diesel informed his followers that he would scout for active areas where he could assist with evacuations. As of this writing, however, he has not provided any further updates in the 16 hours following his last post.
WhistlinDiesel is not alone in his philanthropic efforts. Other creators are stepping up as well; for instance, Logan Paul and KSI’s brand, Prime, recently donated $60,000 worth of products to firefighters to keep them hydrated while they worked diligently to extinguish the flames.
