In his August 2 video, YouTuber Cody ‘WhistlinDiesel’ Detwiler tested the durability of the Tesla Cybertruck by subjecting it to various items, including C4 explosives and Jake Paul’s fist.
With a staggering 8 million subscribers, WhistlinDiesel has become a viral sensation with his unconventional videos showcasing his daring stunts and antics involving different trucks and cars.
For weeks, he has been teasing a durability test of the Tesla Cybertruck, generating excitement for the eventual release of the video. Fans were eagerly anticipating Detwiler’s demonstration of the EV’s capabilities, and on August 2, 2024, the highly anticipated video was finally uploaded.
Detwiler and his team decided to add more excitement by conducting the same tests on a standard Ford F-150 pickup truck for comparison. The experiment started off with a straightforward task, as the YouTuber drove both vehicles over a log hill.
During the second test, both trucks were driven over a series of pipes. However, the F-150 got stuck at the top, causing the situation to deteriorate. In an attempt to remedy the situation, WhistlinDiesel’s team utilized the Cybertruck to pull the F-150 back down the ramp. Unfortunately, this resulted in the complete removal of the rear bumper and hitch from the F-150.
The YouTuber was stunned by the damage and decided to share a video of the incident on his TikTok channel. The video has accumulated over 12 million views in the days following its upload.
@whistlindieselvstiktok2 When are manufacturers going to start actually testing their vehicles before they sell them??
After conducting several more tests, the team ultimately decided to equip both trucks with C4 explosives during the durability test.
Tesla utilized steel in the construction of the Cybertruck, while Ford opted for aluminum in the production of the F-150. Due to its high strength, the EV emerged from the test with minimal dents. On the other hand, the Ford sustained significant damage with holes blasted through the tailgate and one of the doors.
Following the use of explosives, they enlisted nearly twelve individuals, including Jake Paul, Mike Majlak, and others, to assist in pounding on the exterior of the truck.
“WhistlinDiesel stated that the glass would be his sole barrier against professional boxer Jake Paul.”
The topic was introduced at 17:14.
The durability test video for the Cybertruck has become one of WhistlinDiesel’s most popular videos to date, having amassed over 10 million views as of writing.
Undoubtedly, his supporters are eager to witness further footage of him pummeling the Tesla Cybertruck. Detwiler confirmed that he plans to film a sequel, but only after Tesla has made necessary repairs to the EV.
“According to him, if Tesla manages to repair the truck, we will continue to episode 2.”
Despite this being a recent viral video for WD, it is not the first. Back in August 2023, a video ended in disaster when his Ferrari caught fire and burned to the ground. This caused WD to address speculation that the incident was staged.
