Yuji Itadori’s Parents in Jujutsu Kaisen
Despite being raised by his grandfather, little was said about Yuji’s parenting in the story. The details of his biological parents are largely unknown. However, chapter 143 reveals a significant moment where we catch a glimpse of Yuji’s family.
During this scene, we learn that Yuji was born to Jin and Kaori Itadori and is being cradled by his father while his grandfather, Wasuke Itadori, watches. However, the plot thickens as more secrets are revealed.
Before Yuji’s birth, his mother Kaori Itadori was thought to have passed away.
Kenjaku has the ability to change bodies by switching brains. It had previously used this power on Geto, resulting in the host receiving a mark on their forehead, similar to Geto’s. The stitch marks on Kaori’s forehead serve as additional evidence that she was under the control of Kenjaku.
Moreover, while inhabiting Geto’s body, Kenjaku demonstrated his exceptional skill of manipulating gravity, which he later reveals is the opposite of Kaori Itadori’s cursed technique, the Anti-Gravity System. These details all point to a single conclusion: YUJI IS THE OFFSPRING OF KENJAKU, the most malevolent sorcerer in the entire history of Jujutsu Kaisen.
The Truth Behind Yuji’s Birth
Despite the evidence, there is ongoing discussion among fans about Kenjaku’s role as Yuji’s mother and whether or not she would allow him to participate in the Culling Game. While some argue that a parent would not willingly put their child in danger, Kenjaku neither confirms nor denies being Yuji’s mother when confronted by Choso. However, his actions seem to support the theory.
Despite Kenjaku’s love for Yuji, his ultimate goal is more important to him than having a son or leaving a legacy. Yuji is merely a means to achieve this goal, and the fact that Kenjaku has been planning for thousands of years makes having a child seem like a small part of his overall plan.
Kenjaku’s determination to manipulate and abandon his own children highlights his unwavering dedication to altering the world of Jujutsu Kaisen. This is evident in the panel from chapter #203 where Choso openly talks about his siblings, such as Kechizu, Eso, and Yuji Itadori.
Choso raises doubts about Kenjaku’s strong fascination with Yuji, since the sorcerer has demonstrated little care towards his remaining children – the nine Cursed Womb – Death Paintings.

It is worth noting that the Heinian Era Sukuna bore a striking resemblance to Yuji, which is understandable considering the revelation in chapter #257 that Sukuna is actually Yuji’s uncle, making them blood relatives.
It is widely believed that the likelihood of Sukuna choosing Yuji as his vessel is extremely low, with only a one in a million chance. This is due to the fact that anyone could have ingested Sukuna’s finger and become his vessel. However, Kenjaku strategically orchestrated Yuji’s birth, potentially making him the most suitable vessel for Sukuna to regain his power.
Possible Origin of Yuji’s Powers
The discovery that Kenjaku is Yuji’s mother could open up interesting possibilities. A popular theory is that Yuji is a perfected form of the Death Paintings, providing an explanation for why Choso views him as a brother. Furthermore, Yuji’s mastery of Blood Manipulation, a skill exclusive to the Kamo Clan, hints at a deeper bond between him and Sukuna.
Furthermore, even though Kenjaku’s involvement in Yuji’s birth may account for his remarkable strength, speed, and innate jujutsu abilities despite his lack of experience, the enigma surrounding Yuji’s background remains unresolved.
