Who does Futaro Uesugi marry in The Quintessential Quintuplets manga? Explained

The Quintessential Quintuplets manga has been praised as one of the top romcom series in the media. The ending of the series follows the common trend of having the protagonist end up with just one girl out of a group of girls, a beloved trope among manga fans since the early days.

The manga series has a total of 14 volumes, each one highlighting the dynamic between Uesugi Futarou, the male lead, and one of the sisters from the Nakano family. However, the final volume stands out as it solely centers on the protagonist’s childhood love for one of the sisters.

So, in The Quintessential Quintuplets, who does Futaro Uesugi ultimately end up marrying? Despite facing a series of challenges and overcoming some difficult emotions, the protagonist ultimately chooses Yotsuba Nakano and the two are married in the conclusion of the manga. While some of the sisters initially struggled with this decision, they were able to sort through their feelings and maintain their strong bond as sisters.

Upon successfully catching Yotsuba by surprise after chasing her, Uesugi confronted her about her feelings towards him. As per her usual behavior, Yotsuba ignored the question and fled once again. Uesugi had already come to the realization that Yotsuba was the girl who rescued him from the police during their childhood and had been suppressing her feelings as his sister since then.

Upon arriving at the park, Yotsuba expressed her love for Uesugi. However, she requested some time to sort through her emotions with her sisters, who had also confessed to Uesugi. After working through some difficult feelings, Yotsuba was able to resolve everything and officially began a relationship with Uesugi, which eventually led to marriage.

In chapter 114 of The Quintessential Quintuplets manga, Uesugi unexpectedly approached Yotsuba, catching her off guard. He inquired about his well-being, but quickly got to the point and asked about her feelings for him. Before he could finish, she abruptly interrupted and fled.

After reaching a park, Uesugi stumbled and Yotsuba tearfully confessed her feelings for the protagonist. The subsequent chapter of The Quintessential Quintuplets manga begins with Uesugi encountering Ichika, the eldest sister, and recounting his encounter with Yotsuba. Despite her confession, Yotsuba was not yet prepared to enter a relationship with Uesugi.

Despite wanting to take a chance with Uesugi, Ichika advised him to stay positive and respect her need for space. It was evident that Yotsuba was determined to resolve any issues with her sisters, who had all expressed their love for Uesugi. She began by apologizing to Nino, who was not pleased with her lack of courage and promptly walked away.

After Miku, it was Yotsuba’s turn to dress up. The two of them spent some time together, and Nino came to the realization that she needed to love herself before trying to love someone else. She advised Yotsuba to ignore her sisters and focus on enjoying her life with Uesugi. In the manga series, The Quintessential Quintuplets, Nino and Yotsuba met once again, but this time Uesugi was accompanied by Itsuki.

Nino consented to Yotsuba’s decision to go out with Uesugi, but warned her that she would not hesitate to claim Uesugi for herself if Yotsuba acted recklessly. After sorting out the feelings of all the sisters, Yotsuba and Uesugi officially began dating. In a sudden turn of events, Uesugi proposed to Yotsuba, who shared her dream of becoming a bride and asked Uesugi to make it a reality. The protagonist then left for Tokyo to pursue higher education.

The concluding chapter of The Quintessential Quintuplets manga depicted the quintuplets’ return home after 5 years for the wedding day. At the wedding venue, the girls all dressed as brides and challenged Uesugi to choose his bride (as they were indistinguishable from one another).

Uesugi, who had spent years tutoring them, called each of them by name and selected Yotsuba to be his spouse.
