Many fans of the series, particularly those who are not caught up with the story, frequently wonder “Who is Asta’s mother?”due to the fact that the main character begins the manga as an orphan living in Hage’s church. Throughout most of the series, Asta’s lineage remains a mystery to fans until it is finally revealed during the Dark Triad arc.

It was later discovered that Asta’s mother, Licita, possessed a unique magic that enabled her to absorb the lifeforce and mana of those nearby. Licita, a woman who lived on the outskirts, possessed uncontrollable lifeforce-draining abilities. She stumbled upon Licht’s five-leaf clover grimoire, which allowed the demon Liebe to enter the living world. Despite their initial encounter, the two formed a strong friendship and Licita even bestowed a name upon the demon, creating a mother-son bond between them.

Despite Liebe’s demonic nature, Licita’s abilities have no effect on him and they are able to coexist peacefully. However, as punishment for escaping to the world of the living, Lucifero is able to take control of a portion of Liebe’s body. Unfortunately, Asta’s mother ends up bearing the brunt of this punishment.

Licita’s plan was to weaken Lucifero by absorbing Liebe’s power, but in the process, the demon took control of one of her arms and killed her. However, before she passed away, Licita managed to seal Liebe inside the five-leaf clover grimoire, allowing him to escape from Lucifero. Despite this, their paths would cross once more during the Dark Triad arc.

Licita’s significance in Black Clover is exemplified by the fact that she is the birth mother of the protagonist, Asta, and that she made the decision to give him away to Hage’s church. This ultimately led to Asta growing up alongside Sister Lily and Yuno, both of whom played crucial roles in his growth and his ultimate ambition of becoming the Wizard King.

In addition, she played a crucial role in humanizing Liebe and enabling him to develop relationships with others. This ultimately led to Asta’s ability to bond with the demon, as they came into contact through the grimoire and formed a powerful alliance that helped them overcome formidable opponents in recent arcs, notably the Dark Triad.
