Deadpool’s loyal canine companion, Dogpool, is currently getting ready for his much-anticipated introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Deadpool 3. Let’s take a look at how this beloved character first emerged in the pages of Marvel Comics.
Deadpool and Wolverine have followed the trend of variants, although Deadpool has had various versions in comics for a considerable time. There are numerous noteworthy Deadpool variants, including Gwenpool (a version of Gwen Stacy as Deadpool), Lady Deadpool (exactly as the name suggests), and Headpool (a zombie Deadpool’s decapitated head). However, among all these variants, Dogpool may be the most endearing.
Dogpool’s Origins in Comic Books Explained
In 2010, Dogpool first appeared in Prelude to Deadpool Corps #3. This mini-series featured a group of Deadpool variations who were enlisted to create a powerful team across different universes.
Despite being a subject of the Mascara-X project on Earth-103173, Wilson, a dog, did not succeed in the experiment. As a result, he was left with patchy fur and a tail that seemed to be rotting constantly. Unable to find a sense of belonging or end his own life, Wilson continued to struggle.
Dogpool found a new life as a circus performer after his transformation
Eventually, he becomes a member of a circus and is known as Deadpool, a skilled stunt dog. However, Mascara-X discovers that he has survived and creates a new genetically advanced animal, a literal wolverine named Wolverine, to try and stop him.
Despite the first one’s attempt to destroy the circus, Dogpool manages to deceive Wolverine into plunging into a vat of acid. Before Mascara-X can seek revenge, he is rescued by the 616 Deadpool, who transports him out of the universe to join the Deadpool Corps.
