The debut of Chainsaw Man chapter 171 marked the introduction of the newly reformed Special Division 5 in the series. This significant event also introduced five new Fiends to fans. Sadly, all five Fiends have already met their demise and the Ear Devil has been consumed by “Black Chainsaw Man.”
Out of the group, there was a particular female Fiend who captivated the attention of fans. This wicked entity has been affectionately referred to as the “Fent Devil”by her admirers. But who exactly is the Fent Devil and what is the reason behind this moniker? Is “Fent Devil”the Fiend’s given name or simply a nickname coined by her followers?
This article includes spoilers from the Chainsaw Man manga.
Is the Fent Devil real in Chainsaw Man?
Despite the introduction of five new fiends in Chainsaw Man chapter 171, the manga kept their identities a mystery, with the exception of the Ear Devil Fiend. Out of the five, fans developed a particular attachment to the female fiend with the black hat and began affectionately calling her the “Fent Devil.”
Many fans believed that the Fiend was named “Fent Devil”due to its resemblance to Fentanyl, a synthetic opioid commonly used to treat chronic pain. Fentanyl works by binding to the body’s opioid receptors, managing both pain and emotions. Its impact typically includes feelings of euphoria, drowsiness, disorientation, nausea, and more.
As the “Fent Devil”appeared to be content despite the challenges faced by the new Special Division, fans speculated that she was inspired by Fentanyl and thus began calling her by that name.
How Fans Reacted to the Appearance of the Fent Devil
From her initial introduction, the “Fent Devil”had already captured the hearts of many fans who were reminded of a beloved character from the series, Power. This adoration prompted fans to create fanarts of the character after just one chapter.
“i really like whoever this little fent devil is,”one fan said.
“LMFAO 1MILLION FANARTS AND SHE DIDNT EVEN LAST AN ENTIRE CHAPTER,”another fan said.
Regrettably, the “Black Chainsaw Man”killed off the character in the beginning of the following chapter, resulting in her brief appearance not lasting even the duration of one manga chapter.
Despite many fans predicting this plot development, they remained hopeful that manga creator Tatsuki Fujimoto would not immediately kill off the characters he had introduced.
“THEY DONE KILLED THE FENT DEVIL NOOOOOO,”another added.
“Fent devil my beloved I can’t believe fentanyl will cease to exist,”other fan said.
Despite this, the events unfolded exactly as described. Following this, the manga chapter depicted the “Black Chainsaw Man”consuming the Ear Devil, resulting in the disappearance of ears and the absence of them on any characters. This caused fans to express their shock and disbelief that fentanyl, along with other Fiends such as the “Fent Devil”, could potentially cease to exist in the world of Chainsaw Man.
