The focus on lore is taking center stage in Overwatch 2 Season 10 through Mirrorwatch, while Talon once again takes the spotlight.
Mirrorwatch, the upcoming event and theme for Season 10 of Overwatch 2, continues to focus on the ongoing conflicts between Talon and Overwatch. However, this time it presents a unique twist by placing characters in a completely different universe.
Despite the unusual nature of the season, it would be beneficial for you to familiarize yourself with Talon before jumping into Season 10. So, here is everything you need to know about the adversaries in Overwatch.
Talon in Overwatch 2: Origins and Role in the Game
In the Overwatch universe, Talon is known as a terrorist organization.
After the Omnic Crisis had ended, Talon was formed with the purpose of promoting human strength through conflict. In order to achieve this objective, they deliberately incite turmoil around the world.
Despite its public image as a for-hire mercenary group, Talon actually uses this facade as a means to carry out acts of terrorism.
In Overwatch’s universe, Talon has been accountable for a multitude of assassinations, abductions, skirmishes, political manipulation, and acts of terrorism.
Some examples include the killing of Mondatta, the kidnapping of Amelie Lacroix, her conversion into Widowmaker through brainwashing, and an assault on a Null Sector vessel.
What characters are part of Talon in Overwatch 2?
As a prominent organization in the Overwatch universe, Talon boasts a large number of members, ranging from the inner council and agents to troopers and others who have yet to be unveiled. Therefore, our focus will be on the key figures who are already in the limelight.
Talon’s leader, Akande Ogundimu, also known as Doomfist, ascended through the ranks to ultimately lead the organization.
Talon’s inner council is made up of a minimum of fifteen members, but only five have been disclosed at this time. Among them is Maximilien, who made an appearance during the Storm Rising event. Doomfist is also a member of the inner council.
The infamous Reaper, also known by his real name Gabriel Reyes, was once the commander of Blackwatch and is now a member of Talon. Following a near-death experience during an internal conflict within Overwatch, he was rescued by Talon’s chief scientist and subsequently joined their ranks.
Moira O’Deorain, the lead scientist at Talon, is a well-known figure among most players. She played a crucial role in saving Reaper’s life through her experiments and also significantly transformed Amelie Lacroix’s physicality, ultimately shaping her into the formidable Talon Agent known as Widowmaker.
Some of the Talon Agents are Sigma, who was forcibly recruited and manipulated into joining by Talon, Sombra, who willingly joined the organization, and Mauga, a mercenary who works for Talon and was once teamed up with Baptiste, a former Talon combat medic.
What are Talon’s plans in Overwatch 2?
Currently, in the ongoing narrative of Overwatch 2, Talon has recently apprehended Zenyatta at the Shambali Monastery, marking the conclusion of the events in Overwatch: Invasion.
The clip begins at 19:22.
Following the global attacks by Null Sector and Ramattra, Winston recalls Overwatch in response. However, taking advantage of the world crisis, Talon manages to capture the Omnic monk while operating undercover.
The reason for Talon’s capture of Zenyatta remains a mystery, but it is possible that they aim to convert him into a Talon agent, similar to what they did with Sigma and Widowmaker, or to manipulate political affairs, as seen with the assassination of Mondatta. We will have to wait for future lore updates to provide us with answers to our queries.
