Who is the Next Overwatch 2 Hero?

Although Overwatch 2 Season 11 brought a plethora of new content, it did not introduce a new Hero. This may have left you pondering when a new character will be added to the constantly expanding roster.

The last Hero to be released in Season 10 was the DPS Venture, coming after the controversial Tank Mauga.

Next Hero in Overwatch 2

The latest addition to the Hero roster is a character known as ‘Space Ranger,’ who was first introduced at Blizz Con 2023 along with Venture. She will be the first playable character in OW2 to originate from Mars, in contrast to the majority of other characters who hail from more earthly settings.

Ever since Season 11 was launched, the developers have been dropping hints about her arrival. Players have noticed a comet in the sky on various maps inspired by the West Coast of the United States, including Hollywood and Blizzworld. This mysterious object is believed to be the Space Ranger’s arrival on Earth, preceding her official debut.

Release Information

Space Ranger’s debut is set for Wednesday, August 21, 2024, coinciding with the release of OW2 Season 12. Blizzard officially announced the Season 12 launch alongside the reveal of the Hero, and the date can also be viewed on the in-game Battle Pass timer.

Role and kit revealed so far

The upcoming addition to the game, Space Ranger, has been announced as a Support Hero, marking the first new character in this category since Illari’s introduction in August 2023. While the developers have kept her abilities a secret, they have released a few hints that give us a glimpse into her potential playstyle.

The “burst-fire Smart SMG”is her primary weapon, indicating that she excels in close combat and can adjust to various scenarios quickly. It is uncertain whether her regular attacks have the ability to both harm and heal, or if her healing abilities are linked to her other skills.

She has also been characterized as a “highly agile”Support, equipped with powerful rocket thrusters in her suit that allow for significant vertical movement. However, it remains uncertain whether this will manifest as an elongated jump like Baptiste or the ability to hover in the skies like Pharah.

Blizzard is anticipated to release additional information about Space Ranger, including her official name, as the time draws closer. However, in the meantime, there is still the new Community Crafted mode and upcoming Transformers event to look forward to.
