During the month of March, Rania, a TikToker and flight attendant, gained widespread attention when she revealed the surprising explanation behind why flight attendants always check every passenger upon boarding a plane.

Additionally, it serves not only to ensure politeness and comfort, but also to identify individuals who are capable of assisting the crew in the event of an emergency.

An “ABP,”which stands for “able-bodied person,”refers to passengers who are capable and alert, and can provide assistance to the crew if needed.

Kat Kamalani, a fellow flight attendant, also stressed that ABPs are typically individuals who are also pilots, firefighters, police officers, doctors, nurses, or military personnel.

Kat then explained the scenarios in which assistance from passengers on the plane would be required, mentioning the need for additional help in the event of an unexpected landing or a security violation.

The flight attendant added that during the boarding process, they are vigilant for signs of human trafficking, explaining, “Unfortunately, it is a prevalent issue in the industry.”

After watching the two TikToks, many viewers shared their own stories of flight attendants checking them out as they boarded the plane.

“One reminisced about being selected to sit in the exit row, in case they were needed to open the door. She had requested them specifically.”

“Another individual mentioned receiving a complimentary round trip flight from Southwest after assisting in a medical emergency.”

Another flight attendant has also used TikTok to expose the “villainous”behaviors of airplane passengers, in addition to the true purpose of why flight attendants greet passengers upon boarding the plane.

The prohibited items included any type of liquid bottle in the overhead cabin, as they have a tendency to leak on passengers, particularly if they are ill.

Additionally, the same TikToker became widely popular for explaining why it is not advisable for travelers to use the toilet paper provided in the airplane’s bathroom. This is because it is often contaminated with urine from male passengers during moments of turbulence.
