Why Himawari, not Boruto, is the perfect vessel for Kurama, explained

The release of Boruto Two Blue Vortex chapter 10 on May 20, 2024 was a significant event as it signified the official awakening of Himawari as the Jinchuriki of the Nine-tails and the return of Kurama, who had died during the battle against Isshiki Otsutsuki.

Ever since her awakening, there has been a lot of discussion about why Boruto, the main character, did not awaken Kurama within himself. Fans believe that he is more powerful than his sister and that it would have been more logical for him to become the Jincuriki instead.

The topic at hand pertains to the genetics of the Uzumaki family, particularly in regards to Naruto’s children. Both Boruto and Himawari have inherited their father’s chakra, but due to Momoshiki’s influence, Boruto’s chakra has been replaced with that of an Otsutsuki. As a result, Himawari was left with her father’s chakra, which also happens to be the chakra of the Nine-tails fox. This is the reason why it is logical for Himawari to become the next Jinchuriki of the Nine-tails.

Boruto Uzumaki was the elder child in the Uzumaki household, followed by his younger sister, Himawari Uzumaki. While Boruto resembled his father, Himawari took after her mother in appearance, yet they both inherited their father’s distinctive whiskers.

Their genetic makeup made both of them suitable for becoming the inheritors of the Nine-tails and vessels for the Otsutsuki clan. After successfully defeating the antagonist with the help of Naruto and Sasuke, the protagonist became the chosen vessel for Momoshiki Otsutsuki.

Once Momoshiki became the vessel, the Karma began to overwrite the protagonist’s genetic makeup to transform him into an Otsutsuki. When the process is complete, Momoshiki will be reborn within the protagonist’s body. As the protagonist’s genetic makeup has already been altered to a certain degree, the Nine-tail chakra inherited from his father may have become recessive.

Despite his brother becoming the vessel for Momoshiki, Himawari’s genetic makeup remained pure. This led to the little Nine-tails chakra inside her acting as a catalyst for Kurama to be reborn within her, ultimately making her the Jinchuriki of the Nine-tails.

Upon awakening inside Himawari, Kurama disclosed that his bond with Himawari surpassed that of all his previous jinchuriki hosts. This could be attributed to Kurama’s initial rebirth as a young fox, allowing him to develop and cultivate his chakra within a jinchuriki from the very beginning, resulting in a stronger affinity between them compared to his past hosts.

Additionally, the preview of Two Blue Vortex chapter 11 reveals that Himawari possesses the ability to create a Tailed Beast bomb while in her human form, solidifying her position as the most powerful Jinchuriki in the series.
