Why Naruto and Sasuke’s Power Ups Would Negatively Impact Boruto

Naruto and Sasuke, who initially played vital roles in the early segments of the Boruto series, have gradually receded into the background, leaving their presence almost nonexistent in the current storyline. These two iconic figures previously held the title of the strongest characters for a significant stretch, with the plot often centering on their choices and actions.

Considering their diminished presence and the stark contrast in power levels compared to the emerging threats, it seems reasonable to propose that they be granted new abilities or enhancements to ensure they maintain relevance among the other shinobi, many of whom appear considerably weaker in light of recent developments.

Ever since the debut of the first chapter, Naruto and Sasuke have been central to the series, with their backstories tying back to the legendary figures of Hagoromo and the Otsutsukis.

While their formidable powers, inherited from the original Naruto series and enhanced by their reincarnations as Ashura and Indra, initially allowed them to confront most challenges in Ikemoto’s narrative, the overall escalation of power levels has been extraordinary.

The introduction of Kaguya as the series’ primary antagonist showcased a new benchmark for power, one that continued with the Otsutsuki clan emerging as main foes. Unfortunately, the characters in Ikemoto’s storyline have not received proportional power boosts, leaving Naruto’s son as the only shinobi currently capable of standing against the powerful Shinju.

Despite Boruto and Kawaki emerging as spiritual successors to Naruto and Sasuke, their abilities are noticeably weaker in the current landscape of Ikemoto’s series, especially when compared to the menacing Shinju. Furthermore, Naruto has been sealed in a different dimension, and Sasuke finds himself trapped in a tree.

Given their crucial roles in the series’ history and their current state, a significant power enhancement is essential for them to remain distinguishable from the less impactful shinobi populating the story.

While some fans argue that Boruto and Kawaki should take center stage as the main characters of the series, the extensive legacy and influence of Naruto and Sasuke cannot be overlooked. It would be a disservice to render them completely ineffective against emerging threats.

To preserve their status as former protagonists, both Naruto and Sasuke will require some form of empowerment. Failing that, their re-emergence might be reserved for the series’ conclusion, providing the opportunity for Boruto: Two Blue Vortex to concentrate on the new lead characters.

The release of Boruto Two Blue Vortex chapter 16 is set for November 20, 2024, and will likely unveil the next developments regarding Kawaki and the protagonists, particularly following the alliance they formed in chapter 15 to confront the Shinju threat.

Additionally, chapter 15 showed Code facing defeat at the hands of Jura and subsequently retreating; thus, there’s potential for Code to also form a temporary alliance with the main characters. Although Naruto and Sasuke are currently incapacitated, there remains a distinct possibility that Sasuke could play a more active role, possibly through the character of Hidari.
