Why the Buffed Raid Exotic is now a Top Add-Clear Weapon in Destiny 2

Bungie enhanced an underestimated raid Exotic in The Final Shape, resulting in its transformation into one of the top add-clear weapons in Destiny 2.

Despite being reintroduced to Destiny alongside Crota’s End, Necrochasm initially failed to impress Guardians. Despite being a Raid-exclusive drop, the Exotic Auto Rifle’s add clear potential was overshadowed by other Exotics such as Osteo Striga, which was a campaign reward.

Nevertheless, The Final Shape bestowed Necrochasm with a significant enhancement by replacing its previous catalyst with One For Thrall. Similar to One For All, this unique ability grants a 35% damage increase upon impacting three different foes, but it also enhances range, handling, and aim assist for the same duration.

Previously, the catalyst for Necrochasm was Outlaw, an odd selection for a weapon that already had the ability to automatically reload after scoring Precision Final Blows. The previous catalyst and Cursebringer did not complement each other, as one perk encouraged reloading while the other rendered it unnecessary.

Despite this, One For Thrall stands out. The newly added catalyst for Necrochasm amplifies its effectiveness, granting a 35% increase in damage for both its shots and the explosive blasts of Cursed Thralls created by Cursebringer. This powerful combination makes it an exceptional weapon for clearing out groups of enemies in raids.

Furthermore, in addition to its access to Desperation, Nechrochasm also benefits from Cursebringer’s explosions. After landing a finishing blow, Desperation kicks in, resulting in a 25% increase in Necrochasm’s fire rate, reaching a maximum of 900 RPM. This also has the added effect of improving stability and aim assist.

Players who have stayed updated on the PvE Meta for Destiny 2 are aware of the strength of Auto Rifles equipped with Onslaught. Both the Breakneck and Vos Arago IV versions of these weapons are formidable, providing a satisfying experience as they increase in power. Additionally, Midnight Coup with Firefly + One For All remains a top choice, offering the versatility of both efficient add clear and overall damage output.

Necrochasm combines all of those meta weapons into one, with Cursebringer surpassing Firefly, One For Thrall surpassing One For All, and Desperation surpassing Onslaught. This powerful combination of three improved meta perks on a single gun has elevated Necrochasm from a decent Exotic weapon to one of the top choices in the sandbox.
