Why there should be a Vampire Dormitory season 2, explored

Despite the conclusion of the first season on June 23, 2024, there has been no announcement for a second season of Vampire Dormitory. Despite initial expectations that the series would end after its first season, the source material is still ongoing and there is no indication of it coming to an end anytime soon.

Vampire Dormitory is based on a manga series created by Tooyama Ema. The author is also known for other popular manga works such as I Guess I Became the Mother of the Great Demon King’s 10 Children in Another World, Pixie Pop: Gokkun Pucho, and I Am Here.

“While Vampire Dormitory did not end on a major cliffhanger, it did introduce a new character who bore a striking resemblance to the male protagonist. This suggests that in season 2, the focus could shift to his story. The sequel may also see Ruka continue to pursue Mito, despite having just defeated Ren in order to reclaim his destined partner.”

In the Spring anime season of 2024, Vampire Dormitory was animated by Studio Blanc. It is considered one of the few cross-dressing series of the season, and despite being underrated, it remains a standout among viewers.

In episode 12 of Vampire Dormitory, viewers witnessed the wedding ceremony between Ren and Mito. Prior to the ceremony, Ruka paid a visit to Mito and presented her with the same thrall necklace she had before Ren erased her memories. Upon wearing the necklace, Mito’s lost memories began to resurface.

As Mito tearfully recited their vows during the ceremony, they found themselves unable to fully commit. Just as they were overcome with emotion, Ruka stepped in and tenderly kissed Mito, bringing them comfort and reassurance. And in that moment, Mito reverted back to their true form as a woman, much to Ruka’s delight, as he realized that Mito was indeed his destined partner.

After returning to their dorms, the two resumed their daily routines, with Mito continuing to live as a boy despite Ruka now being aware of her true identity as a woman. The episode concluded with the arrival of a new transfer student, Ruze Tsukishiro, who bore a striking resemblance to Ruka.

The first season of Vampire Dormitory covered the initial 21 chapters of the manga series, equivalent to 7 volumes. As of the publication of this article, the manga series has a total of 14 volumes in serialization. This means that there are still 7 volumes remaining that have not yet been adapted into an anime.

Based on the events of the last episode, if a second season of Vampire Dormitory were to happen, the focus would shift to the new transfer student, Ruze. Mito would have the opportunity to interact with him as a regular student, but like Ren, Ruze could also enter Mito’s life as a potential romantic interest.

In season 2 of Vampire Dormitory, Ruka will face a new challenge as he strives to protect his destined partner from a formidable adversary. The battle against Ren was won in the nick of time due to Mito’s use of the thrall necklace, but the outcome of the upcoming season 2 battle remains uncertain.

Similarly to the first season, Vampire Dormitory season 2 could continue with a similar storyline where Ruka pursues Mito once again in order to win her over. This was a popular aspect among fans in the first season and they would be thrilled to see it return.
