Wild Valorant Bug Allows Cypher to Cancel Clove’s Ultimate

Valorant players have discovered a bug where Cypher has the ability to cancel Clove’s ultimate using his own.

Clove’s ultimate, Not Dead Yet, grants them the ability to temporarily revive. If they are able to get a kill or assist while revived, they can be fully resurrected. This means that canceling the ability can render Clove’s entire kit, which centers on the afterlife, useless.

A Reddit post shared an unexpected interaction in Valorant, where a player discovered that Cypher’s ultimate can cancel Clove’s ability. The unfortunate clip capturing the incident can be found on the platform.

In the video, the player controlling Clove has their ultimate ability ready to use but is killed by a Cypher who promptly activates their own ability as soon as the player’s body falls to the ground.

The death animation appears to stutter as Clove’s view is transferred to their ultimate animation. The animation also stutters, transitioning abruptly from a completed state to starting up and then disappearing. Finally, the player’s body displays Cypher’s ultimate ability.

“The post inquired, “What the hell happened?”

What the hell happened? It looks like I got killed twice before I even revived. And yes, I lost my ult. byu/DinoDracko inVALORANT

In the comments, fellow players of Valorant attempted to figure out the exact cause of the incident. Some speculated that the Clove player accidentally pressed the ultimate button twice, leading to the end of her intangibility, while others attributed it to a potential glitch between agents.

“According to one Reddit user, using Cypher’s ultimate ability immediately after your death may have overwritten your own ultimate. Speculation suggests that perhaps the hat requires a corpse in order to exist and Cypher’s ultimate, which activated first, took precedence.”

The user ‘RiotCombatCube’, a Software Engineer at Riot Games, responded to the post and confirmed that the interaction is indeed a bug. They assured that the issue will be investigated.

The developer apologized, acknowledging that while they enjoy playing as Cypher, his actions were not permitted. They expressed regret for the incident that occurred.

Clove, being the newest addition to the Valorant cast, has not had as much time as the other characters to address and resolve these bugged interactions. As is the case with most live service games, bugs and glitches are regularly fixed with each patch cycle, so players of Valorant can anticipate this particular issue to be resolved in the upcoming 9.02 update.
