Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle is currently in development at MachineGames, a development team under the umbrella of Bethesda and therefore owned by Microsoft. But could this game still make its way to Sony’s PS5? Here’s everything we know.
Years after its announcement, Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle is finally starting to come to fruition. A first in-depth trailer in early 2024 gave us our first real look at the game in first person, showcasing everything from whip fights to puzzle solving and a large amount of exploration to boot.
And even though this presentation took place during an Xbox Dev Direct, could Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle soon find its way to other platforms?
Although a launch on Xbox and PC is confirmed, rumors surrounding Xbox-exclusive games coming to other platforms have been circulating for several weeks.
Here is everything we know about a possible release of Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle on PS5.
Will Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle be released on PS5?
Currently, Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle has no planned release on PS5, although Microsoft is apparently pushing for it.
During an official podcast, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer confirmed that Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle was not one of the four games confirmed to release on other platforms.
However, the latest reports from The Verge indicate that a PS5 launch is being strongly “considered” as Microsoft weighs its options amid a turbulent period in Xbox history. Although fans shouldn’t expect a simultaneous release, a PS5 port could arrive “a few months later”, in 2025.
This news comes among a series of reports surrounding Microsoft’s supposed change in strategy. Losing the console war to Sony by a considerable margin, Xbox Game Pass and exclusive titles are the main revenue drivers. Looking to earn a little more from software sales, the company is now open to the idea of porting many of its exclusives to rival consoles.
From Sea of Thieves to Starfield, there are plenty of major Xbox titles that PlayStation owners could soon have in their hands, and Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle could just be another name on that list.
But for now, there is no guarantee that Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle will see the light of day on PlayStation.
