On December 17th, Channel A hosted a press conference for its highly anticipated weekend drama, “Check-in Hanyang,”at the Gangnam Eliena Hotel located in Nonhyeon-dong, Seoul. This event brought together a talented cast including Bae In-hyuk, Kim Ji-eun, Jung Gun-joo, Park Jae-chan, and director Myeong Hyun-woo.

In “Check-in Hanyang,”Kim Ji-eun portrays the intriguing character of Hong Deok-soo, a woman who adopts a male disguise for compelling reasons. Describing her role, she said, “She’s bold, energetic, and possesses a very spirited personality.”

This production marks a significant milestone for Kim Ji-eun as it represents her debut in a historical drama. She expressed her excitement about the opportunity, saying, “I’ve always aspired to tackle projects in the historical genre. Although I was apprehensive, I leaned on the support of my senior colleagues. Filming this drama opened my eyes to the many beautiful locations in Korea, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.”

I questioned, ‘How can I overcome this challenge?’ Ultimately, I decided to approach the role with a sense of fun and dedicated a lot of preparation to ensure viewers would feel comfortable and engaged with my portrayal.”

“Check-in Hanyang”is a coming-of-age romance set against the backdrop of the Joseon era, centering around “Yongcheonru,” the largest inn of its time, which operated under the bold motto, “The customer is king.” The narrative unfolds to reveal the stories of young men from Joseon who take up intern positions at this renowned establishment.
