As reported by Taiwan’s ETtoday on March 19 (local time), Kim Soo-hyun may face the cancellation of his anticipated appearance at the 7-Eleven Cherry Blossom Festival in Kaohsiung, scheduled for March 30.
Plans for the Event
7-Eleven had curated a series of products featuring Kim Soo-hyun’s likeness, including fresh food and coffee cups. The promotion also encompassed a press conference and a dedicated fan meeting with the star.

Potential Cancellation Due to Controversy
In addition to his engagement during the festival, Kim Soo-hyun was expected to perform for around 40 minutes on the final day. However, the unfolding situation surrounding allegations related to the late Kim Sae-ron has prompted organizers to reevaluate his participation. Media reports indicate a potential cancellation penalty for Kim Soo-hyun, estimated at approximately 30 million TWD.
Public Reaction and Social Media Impact
Despite the controversy, the event’s official website has yet to release any updates regarding Kim Soo-hyun’s attendance. Notably, videos showing overseas fans tearfully discarding or damaging Kim Soo-hyun’s promotional materials gained significant traction on platforms like TikTok. Additionally, Chinese fan cafes have been shut down, and critical commentary about the actor proliferated on Weibo.

Conflict Over Allegations
Amidst this turmoil, a sharp conflict has arisen between Kim Sae-ron’s family and Kim Soo-hyun’s representatives concerning allegations of a relationship that began when Kim Sae-ron was a minor, as well as demands for the repayment of 700 million KRW in debt. Despite the controversy, Kim Soo-hyun appeared for a scheduled recording of the variety show Good Day at the outset of the situation.
