Will One Piece anime be delayed due to manga breaks?

The One Piece manga still experiences regular hiatuses, but will this also result in delays for the anime?

Despite both the One Piece anime and manga currently being in the Egghead Arc of the Final Saga, they have different release schedules. The anime airs weekly episodes, while the manga is known for unexpected hiatuses, particularly during this arc. It is during the Egghead Arc that the Straw Hats journey to a futuristic island and encounter the brilliant scientist Vegapunk, marking the beginning of the Final Saga.

Additionally, we gain extensive knowledge about the enigmas surrounding the Void Century. One Piece had just returned from a three-week hiatus before postponing Chapter 1114 in light of Golden Week. However, the manga will once again go on hiatus following Golden Week. While the exact cause is uncertain, it could be attributed to Oda’s well-being or his hectic agenda.

Despite this, the future does not seem promising for the anime as it is quickly catching up to the manga. Will this result in additional delays for the One Piece anime due to the manga’s consecutive breaks?

Despite there being multiple pauses in the release of new manga chapters, there is currently no indication of any delays for the One Piece anime.

Despite this, if the anime reaches the same point as the manga, it would significantly limit the amount of material available for the animation studio to utilize. This could result in a further decrease in pacing or an increase in recap episodes. In fact, the anime already airs recap episodes every few weeks, which is a common complaint among manga fans. Nevertheless, Toei Animation would not be able to maintain a weekly release schedule for One Piece if the pacing was consistent.

One Piece has a relatively low number of filler episodes when compared to other long-running anime, which can be attributed to various factors. Similar to the instances before the battles of Luffy vs. Lucci and Law vs. Blackbeard, there may potentially be more recaps before upcoming fights such as Shanks vs. Eustass Kid, Luffy vs. Kizaru, or Garp vs. Blackbeard Pirates.

The anime has recently disclosed that Bonney is Kuma’s daughter, but has not yet explored this revelation in depth, unlike the manga. In the upcoming episode, it is expected that both Kid and Garp will venture into hostile territories.
