Bethesda’s next game, called Starfield, will offer a vast open world to explore with thousands of planets. The excitement for this new game is growing quickly, but PlayStation users are wondering if this new one will be released on their console.
Starfield has a release date scheduled for September 6, and players are looking to experience all the features of this new Bethesda game day by day. Some questions that future Starfield players and fans ask come up frequently.
The most salient questions asked by the community concern early access, pre-order bonuses, and PC specifications.
However, in recent days doubt has arisen among PlayStation users regarding the availability of Starfield players on Sony’s console.
Will Starfield be on PlayStation 5?
Unfortunately for loyal PlayStation users, Starfield will not be available on PS5 or PS4. Additionally, it is very unlikely that this new game will launch on any of Sony’s platforms in the future. The main reason for this is that Microsoft acquired ZeniMax Media in 2021 making this studio a subsidiary of Xbox Game Studios.
Therefore, all ZeniMax Media releases, including those from Bethesda Softworks, will be exclusive to Xbox and will not launch for PlayStation consoles.
However, this news did not signify the final verdict for PlayStation players. They quickly started a petition to make Starfield a PS5 exclusive game with the following arguments: Starfield would perform better on PlayStation consoles than on Xbox
PlayStation has a much larger player base than Xbox, which would provide the developer with greater sales potential
As of this writing, the petition is close to reaching 3,000 signatures.
In summary, Starfield will not be available on any of Sony’s consoles. However, PlayStation players have shown that they will not give in that easily and will do everything possible to try and change the developers’ minds.
