Will the Haunting Adeline Film Be Released on Netflix?

<p>Recently, a rather eerie narrative has captured the attention of many users on their For You pages, raising the question: Will there ever be a Haunting Adeline movie released on Netflix?

This year has certainly provided us with an abundance of films, particularly in the horror genre. The impressive popularity of titles like Longlegs and the latest true crime documentaries speaks volumes about our fascination with chilling tales.

But what occurs when a spine-tingling story emerges seemingly from nowhere, leaving you craving more? Enthusiasts have been trying to determine if a Haunting Adeline film is in the works, leading to widespread uncertainty.

Fortunately, we are here to clarify the situation. Below, we’ll discuss whether you can look forward to a Haunting Adeline movie and its potential availability on Netflix.

No Haunting Adeline Film Coming to Netflix

Regrettably, the Haunting Adeline movie is not real and will definitely not be appearing on Netflix. Fans have been misled into believing it is in development due to a remarkably convincing fan-made trailer.

The trailer was uploaded to YouTube in March 2024 and has been circulating on TikTok since then, amassing hundreds of thousands of views.

Interestingly, Ana de Armas stars in the trailer, despite her last appearance in a horror film dating back to the 2015 thriller Knock Knock.

This is because many of the clips featuring her are sourced from her previous films, such as Deep Water. It’s uncertain if the unsettling snippets intertwined throughout are stock footage, generated by AI, or clips from older horror movies.

What is evident, however, is the origin of the story itself. Haunting Adeline is a novel by H. D. Carlton that debuted in 2021. The narrative has gained significant traction on platforms like Reddit and Wattpad in recent months, naturally leading many fans to hope for a film adaptation.

The trailer was created by Sweetie2566, who stated, “I really love the casting choices we made for this one!”

One YouTube user commented, “ABSOLUTELY INSANE??? I can’t believe how you managed to capture the PERFECT aesthetics for everything and blend it seamlessly. You continue to impress, queen.”

Another added, “EVERYTHING FITS SO WELL, LIKE HOW?! THE QUOTES, SCENES/AESTHETICS…THAT SONG?! Insane work once again….oh, and I totally need to read that book now!!!”

What’s the Narrative About?

Haunting Adeline centers on Adeline, a writer residing alone in a haunted mansion she inherited from her grandmother. She soon discovers she has a stalker, Zade, who watches her while she sleeps and later becomes aggressive.

This premise may already seem grim, but the plot takes an even more bizarre twist. The stalker, originally intent on dismantling a sex trafficking operation, shifts his focus to Adeline due to his growing obsession.

The novel is the first in a duology titled Cat and Mouse, with Hunting Adeline serving as the sequel. When we reunite with Adeline, she finds herself “captured by female traffickers and recovering from her resultant injuries. Once she is healed, she endures mental and physical torment at the hands of her captors.”

It sounds quite dark, yet many reviews praise it as a gripping read.

“The chemistry between Adeline and Zade sizzles with an intense tension that is both exhilarating and disconcerting,” one reader reflected. “Carlton expertly delves into the tumultuous aspects of their relationship, causing readers to ponder the intricate dynamics of desire and the thin line separating love from obsession. This isn’t merely a love story; it’s a journey into the darkness where vulnerability and power intertwine.”

A second review stated: “This series marks my first foray into dark romance, and holy smokes, I doubt I’ll discover another series that can compare.”

Will Haunting Adeline Ever be Adapted?

There’s currently no indication that Haunting Adeline will receive an adaptation anytime soon—but who knows? Perhaps fans will create their own film in the future.

In a twist, Carlton also shared the fan trailer on her TikTok, hinting that she may be open to adaptations in the future.

In the meantime, check out the newest films streaming this month, along with a roundup of the best movies released this year.
