As the Bleach anime embarked on its Thousand-Year Blood War Cour 3 journey in October 2024, fans were treated to a special video highlighting reimagined scenes from its earlier story arcs. This raises the question: Is there a possibility of a Bleach remake?
Currently, the Bleach series is deep within the Thousand-Year Blood War saga, where the formidable Quincy clan has ignited a conflict with the Soul Society. The original series ran from 2004 to 2012 but notably omitted the final narrative arc. A decade later, new seasons were announced, allowing fans to experience the conclusion of the epic tale.
This concluding arc is being rolled out in four installments, each with 13 episodes, with the highly anticipated third part premiering on October 5, 2024. These forthcoming episodes will animate not just the final arc from the manga but also select scenes from the light novels, including the unveiling of Shinji’s Bankai in Cour 2.
Meanwhile, Studio Pierrot released a new video that showcases many beloved moments from the original arcs, updated with a fresh animation style.
Will Bleach Receive an Anime Remake?
At this time, Bleach will not be getting a full remake.
This two-minute clip serves as a promotional piece celebrating the anime’s 20th anniversary. The original series made its debut on October 5, 2004, and October 5, 2024, not only marks the arrival of TYBW Part 3 but also commemorates two decades since the anime first premiered.
Though it isn’t a complete remake as some fans had hoped, it does reimagine some of the series’ most iconic scenes.
Could a Remake Be Due?
Bleach remains a quintessential Shonen manga and anime, boasting a substantial following even today. Back in the early 2000s, it was celebrated as one of the Shonen Big 3 alongside One Piece and Naruto.
The original series utilized an older style of animation and aspect ratio. Additionally, roughly 45% of the content consisted of filler episodes that strayed from the primary storyline. A remake in a modern episodic format akin to TYBW would enable the series to remain true to the core narrative while enhancing the animation quality.
Fortunately, the trend of anime remakes has gained momentum lately. For instance, One Piece is set to receive a remake by WIT Studio, despite the ongoing nature of its anime and manga. Consequently, fans of Bleach should still hold out hope for a possible remake, especially since there are two parts of TYBW yet to be aired before the conclusion of the storyline.
