Will there be a season 2 of Avatar: The Last Airbender on Netflix?

Netflix released its adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, which resumes season 1 of the cartoon. Will the series continue in a season 2?

Aang and his gang are back, but the heroes of Avatar have had a makeover in a live-action version. The young hero, supposed to become an accomplished Avatar to prevent the Fire Nation from enslaving the world, was entitled to his live-action series at the streaming giant.

The adaptation retraces the first season of the original cartoon, entitled Book One: Water. Aang travels across a world in the grip of firebenders, seeking crucial teachings from the Northern Water Tribe. But the story is not just about this quest, and the hero must also discover his other powers.

But in this case, will there be an adaptation of the other seasons in the Avatar: The Last Airbender series on Netflix?

The members of the cast are enthusiastic about continuing the adventure, especially since season 1 ended on an obvious cliffhanger. Season 2 of the cartoon marks the opportunity to focus on the masters of the Earth. It is also during Book Two that Toph, a character particularly popular with Avatar fans, joins the cast.

As for Book Three, in addition to offering an epic outcome by having Aang and his allies confront the warlike Fire Nation, it above all allows the hero to become an accomplished Avatar by learning to control flames.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Albert Kim also hinted at season 2, explaining: “All three seasons of the animated series take place over the course of one year. It was impossible for us to do the same. So we had to design this first season with the groundwork in mind, so that some time would pass between the first and second seasons.”

Because if there is season 2, we will have to take into account a particularly important element: the age of the actors, and especially that of Gordon Cormier, the interpreter of Aang. The boy will necessarily have grown up when filming begins, so an explanation for his growth will have to be offered in the script.

In the meantime, all episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender are available on Netflix.
