Wind Breaker episode 148, named “Do or Die,”began with Sakura delivering a monologue about his journey to reach the top at Furin High. Despite lacking ambition, he recognized the need to improve himself. Currently, his only goal was to protect the town and its inhabitants from Endo and Takiishi.

Understanding Umemiya’s words and taking them as his own resolve, he became the person he was. Sakura then leapt towards Endo, both exchanging punches to their faces. Despite their fatal injuries, they persisted in their fight.

Togame commended Sakura for his unwavering dedication, and Hiragi agreed, noting how much he had grown in just a few days. In his thoughts, Hiragi questioned how far Sakura was willing to push himself in pursuit of strength. However, he also couldn’t help but notice that Endo seemed more enthusiastic than ever before.

Despite feeling hopeless and thinking he had no chance of winning, Sakura’s spirits were lifted in Wind Breaker chapter 148 when Endo appeared and encouraged him not to give up. Endo also observed that no one, other than Takiishi, had been able to elicit such a feeling of euphoria from Sakura. This piqued Endo’s interest in Sakura even further, leading him to consider ways to bring Sakura into his group.

Without warning, Sakura proposed a wager to Endo: if he emerged victorious in the match, Endo would have to bid farewell to Furin and never come back. Conversely, if Sakura lost, he would pledge allegiance to Endo. The students of Furin were taken aback by Sakura’s statement in Wind Breaker chapter 148, but before Nirei could interject, Endo silenced him and firmly declared that there would be no room for second-guessing in this bet.

Suo advised Nirei to have faith in Sakura’s instincts. As the fate of Furin hung in the balance, Sakura felt a weight on his chest and remembered how Umemiya always experienced this same feeling. The two fighters clashed once more, and Sakura reminded himself that while defeating Endo seemed like an impossible task, he would simply focus on not being defeated.

Both Sakura and Endo persisted in their fierce fight, with Sakura determined to hold his position and Endo taking notice of this. As an ex-Furin, Endo made the decision to match Sakura’s approach, resulting in a showdown of fist against fist until one of them yielded. In the end, Endo ultimately succumbed and Sakura seized the opportunity to pin him down.

Endo attempted to strangle Sakura and considered what Sakura’s next move might be. Sakura planned for the possibility that he might fall, and vowed to bring Endo down with him. In a clever move, Sakura feigned fainting, causing Endo to loosen his grip. Taking advantage of the situation, Sakura delivered a powerful headbutt. As Endo lost consciousness, Sakura waited for him to fully pass out before succumbing to exhaustion himself.

Final thoughts

As the battle between Sakura and Endo reached its end, the focus shifted to the roof of Furin High where Umemiya and Takiishi stood. Umemiya had something to show Takiishi, which was most likely his vegetable garden, as was typical of his character.

Despite this, it remains uncertain whether the upcoming chapter will reveal a transformation in Umemiya’s character, a development that has yet to be portrayed in the manga series.
