Wind Breaker: Episode 12 Recap

The 12th episode of Wind Breaker commenced with Suo nominating Sakura for the position of Grade Captain, which was seconded by Tsureuga, Kiryu, and Nirei. As they were the ones who advocated the most for Sakura’s nomination, Suo and Nirei also offered to be his Secondaries. To keep their classmates informed, Suo created a group chat for their entire class, which caused Sakura to feel even more embarrassed. Later, Sakura, Nirei, and Suo joined Ren Kaji, the Grade Captain of the second-year students, for their after-school rounds.

Ren was seen offering to assist an elderly woman in locating a missing child, after scolding her for allowing a similar incident to occur. However, he ultimately assigned the task to others. As it turned out, the missing child was actually a cat, which Sakura and Ren successfully retrieved. Afterward, Sakura spoke to Ren about the responsibilities of being a Grade Captain, seemingly finding purpose in the role and enthusiasm for being a part of it.

The following day, Sakura visited Kotoha’s cafe before school and discovered that he was the Grade Captain. She gave him some advice, encouraging him to make an effort by addressing people by their names. After leaving the cafe, Sakura headed to school and put her advice into practice by calling Nirei and Suo by their names and thanking them for being his Secondaries. The episode concluded with Umemiya summoning all the Grade Captains to the rooftop for a meeting with him and Furin’s Four Kings.

Episode 13 of Wind Breaker: A Speculative Look

The penultimate episode of season one has introduced Furin’s Four Kings, making it highly improbable that this was a mere coincidence. This is reinforced by the previous episode explicitly mentioning that Sakura’s classmate, Anzai, appeared to be injured.

Similarly, as the series is rumored to have a second season, Wind Breaker episode 13 is expected to lay the groundwork for the main storyline of the upcoming arc. The exact approach for this has not been revealed at the time of writing, but it is likely that Anzai will involve Bofurin in his actions to connect with another gang.
