The Haunt is an exciting seasonal event launched on Roblox on October 24, 2024. To join in the fun, players must submit a screenshot from any one of the 22 themed games. Top Strategies to Win Costume Contests in The Haunt 2024
Many players in the Roblox community are utilizing Dress to Impress (DTI) to craft their costumes without any cost. Those opting out of DTI are showcasing images of characters from various titles or utilizing their personal item collections from their Roblox accounts.
The drawback of the latter option is that many appealing Halloween-themed items come with a Robux price tag, which means real money is involved. This can be an issue during The Haunt as many of the “prizes”require payment.
For those seeking a free entry and wishing to craft a unique costume instead of relying on creepy characters from participating games, Dress to Impress is your best ally.
Creatures
The “Creatures”theme kicks off the event on day one.
Fortunately, DTI provides a variety of new Halloween items perfect for creating a look that’s guaranteed to send chills down the spine. The secret lies in taking the shot in an eerie location—unfortunately, the special camera for The Haunt is not available during the new DTI Halloween Lana Lore quests. However, you can still find it in the lobby, waiting area for chapters, and dressing room!
A nifty technique with the blood droplet necklace is to alter the chain to match your avatar’s skin tone, giving the blood a more intentional look. Many new makeup styles from the Halloween update align perfectly with a creature theme.
Let your imagination run wild—consider styles like siren, zombie, ghoul, or vampire. Using a consistent color palette combined with black accents will yield a striking appearance.
Next, it’s essential to maximize your surroundings. The dressing room isn’t ideal for a creature ensemble, but both the lobby and chapter waiting room work beautifully.
For example, during my own experience, I dressed as a siren and adjusted my angle to mimic being below the water. Switching the environment from day to night completed the look!
Cute
Creating adorable outfits in Dress to Impress is straightforward. Although these styles are quite popular, they can sometimes feel repetitive. Regardless, they will get you set for your day two submission.
DTI offers a plethora of adorable clothing options, and I particularly love the 50s style asymmetrical hem dress. I added a blue and white gingham pattern to the dress and paired it with sparkling red heels for that extra Wizard of Oz flair.
After assembling the outfit, I just had to wait for the voting to finish to snap a cute photo next to some flowers in the lobby.
My costume was inspired by a Halloween version of Dorothy—but its cuteness is what truly matters.
For your makeup, utilize plenty of pastel shades and feminine accessories, opting for a sweet expression to complete your look.
Villains
The Villains category was particularly enjoyable to design an outfit for. Building on my cute Dorothy-inspired look, I found myself inspired by musicals, which naturally led me towards Disney villains.
My choice was the Evil Witch from Snow White, but you can draw inspiration from countless Disney villains to create a standout ensemble in DTI! Cruella de Vil is a great option, especially with her iconic fluffy coat and striking hat. DTI also has several split-color hairstyles ideal for portraying Cruella.
If you prefer to stray from Disney characters, consider more classic Halloween villains. Try dressing as a headless horseman in dark attire, carrying a pumpkin, or recreate Lina from the Lana lore.
Orange
Many participants in the Orange category might instinctively choose a pumpkin, so the key is in how you design your outfit around it.
For my own look, I aimed for a circus aesthetic but was also influenced by the extravagant style of Caesar from The Hunger Games, often seen with outlandishly styled hair and suits. I incorporated these elements by exploring the Halloween options in the DTI dressing room.
This unique look surprisingly earned me first place during DTI submissions, providing a delightful post-victory opportunity for photos.
Scary
Creating a look for the Scary category may be the toughest challenge among the five themes in Dress to Impress. I recommend pursuing an “unsettling” rather than a purely “scary”vibe due to the patterns and clothing options on DTI.
My favorite aspect of my somewhat peculiar outfit is the hidden eye placed at the waist. The longer you observe the costume, the stranger it appears—those eye details can be slightly *creepy*.
The wing pattern merges well with the primary outfit color, enhancing the overall look, albeit in a slightly disturbing way. It was a challenging decision, but when I noticed the ensemble’s effect on others, I knew I had made a solid choice.
With categories like Creature, Villains, and Scary bearing similarity, it can be challenging to avoid outfit repetition across them.
Remember, Dress to Impress isn’t your only avenue. From my observations during voting, numerous players capture spine-chilling moments in-game, so even without DTI, you can still create eerie shots for The Haunt 2024.
