Witchfire by The Astronauts Confirms Support for Steam Deck

Witchfire, the first-person dark fantasy RPG shooter from The Astronauts, is set to launch on Steam this month, September 2024. Although it will be in early access for at least another year, the game is now free from the Epic Games Store and can take advantage of all the fantastic features offered by the Steam client and store. The developers have confirmed that Witchfire will support the Steam Deck from day one.

Witchfire Steam Deck Support Confirmed

The Astronauts have announced that Witchfire will be available on Steam in early access starting on September 23, 2024. They also shared some exciting details in their announcement post.

  • Epic Games Store save files will be compatible with Steam
  • Achievements will be available in the Steam version
  • Witchfire supports full controller functionality
  • Compatible with the Steam Deck

While the Steam Deck support has been confirmed, the specifics about optimizations made for the device remain unclear, and it’s uncertain how this version will perform.

The Steam Deck already provides a solid gaming experience, with many videos available on YouTube demonstrating the Epic Games Store version running well on the device with a balanced mix of settings and XeSS enabled.

With the game finally coming to Steam, we can anticipate further improvements and optimizations aimed at achieving verified or playable status from Valve. If you’re interested in Witchfire, consider adding it to your Steam wishlist.

We had a fantastic experience exploring the early access version last year and look forward to seeing how far Witchfire has progressed. While the full release may still be some time away, the Steam launch is expected to facilitate better feedback from a broader player base.
