Wizards of Waverly Place Reboot: Selena Gomez Makes Triumphant Return

Despite the reboot of the series, Selena Gomez, the star of Wizards of Waverly Place, will be making a comeback. However, there is a slight catch to her participation.

Disney has experienced a revival of remakes centered on well-loved franchises, ranging from That’s So Raven to Percy Jackson. And it appears that their highly popular fantasy series, Wizards of Waverly Place, will also be returning this year.

Despite coming to an end in 2012, the show’s fame remained constant due to its highly acclaimed cast, which included renowned pop artist Selena Gomez. It has been officially announced that a revival of the show will debut later this year.

The reboot will center around the family of eldest son Justin (David Henrie), including his wife Giada (Mimi Gianopulos) and their two sons, Roman (Alkaio Thiele) and Milo (Max Matenko).

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that while Gomez’s character Alex will be returning in the Wizards of Waverly Place sequel series, the singer will only appear in the pilot episode.

Alex will commence the new series by introducing Justin to Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown), a young and strong wizard, and requesting his assistance in training her.

Despite Justin becoming the family wizard in the original show’s finale, he decided to live a mortal life with his family. However, in the reboot, he will decide to embrace his magical origins once again in order to assist Billie.

Disney has made a highly unusual decision by choosing to air Wizards of Waverly Place on both Disney+ and the Disney Channel on cable.
