While dining at a restaurant in Spain, a Below Deck fan was convinced they spotted Captain Sandy Yawn and Captain Glenn Shephard, only to realize that they were actually their lookalikes.
The Bravo network has been airing the Below Deck franchise since 2013, and the cast members have gained fame from their appearances on each spinoff.
In events such as BravoCon and watch parties hosted by the stars, viewers have the chance to meet crew members.
On June 15, a fan posted an Instagram story claiming to have spotted Below Deck Sailing Yacht’s Captain Glenn Shephard and Below Deck Mediterranean’s Captain Sandy Yawn dining together at a restaurant in Marbella, Spain.
The woman shared that she had an amazing time at @elanclamarbella and was thrilled when she thought she saw @capt_glennshephard and @captainsandrayawn from @belowdeckbravo browsing in a boutique.
The Below Deck fan added that the people they had seen from a distance seemed lovely, but upon closer inspection, they discovered that they were not the captains they initially thought they were. The fan even shared a photo of the two strangers who bore a resemblance to the captains.
On the same day, Captain Glenn reposted a screenshot of the story and included the caption, “OMG that is too funny,”along with tags for both the fan and Captain Sandy.
After poking fun at the mixup, he followed up with another post on his Instagram, which included a selfie of him and Captain Sandy from December.
“Captain Glenn captioned the post, dedicated to @radiohannah, with the words “Not Doppelgängers, The Real Deal.”He shared the photo from last December aboard @celebritycruises Ascent with @captainsandrayawn.”
Similarly, Captain Sandy replied to the Below Deck fan who had found her look-alike in Spain. Like Captain Glenn, she responded with two laughing emojis.
Despite the excitement of seeing beloved Below Deck celebrities such as Captain Glenn and Captain Sandy in real life, viewers may want to think twice before getting their hopes up for a potential celebrity sighting.
