The 2024 World Series of Warzone has been officially announced by Activision. This event will bring together the world’s top players for a LAN competition, battling for the championship title and a $1 million prize pool.
The World Series of Warzone has become a significant event for players of the COD battle royale game every year since 2021. The 2023 edition was the first time the tournament was held on LAN, with an audience present and a trophy awarded to the winning players.
In 2023, London hosted the event where players from around the world came together. Biffle, Sage, and Shifty emerged as the winners of the trios competition, while Skullface took home the victory in the Solo YOLO $100k tournament. The tournament has a history of attracting top players, including former OpTic Gaming CDL pro Seth ‘Scump’ Abner who secured a highly acclaimed solo win in Verdansk, defeating Aydan in a final 1v1 showdown.

Format & map for World Series of Warzone
Although Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep have been the main ranked play modes in Warzone, the upcoming World Series of Warzone event will be held in Urzikstan.
The format of the qualification was explained in the following way:
The group play schedule spans two weeks, with each group engaging in a 5-drop matchup against other teams. The Upper Bracket will consist of the top 34 teams from group play, while the Lower Bracket will feature the remaining 34 teams from group play in Round 1.
In the Upper Bracket, the top 17 teams will move on to the Qualifier Finals. Any teams that do not advance to the Qualifier Finals will then compete in Round 2 of the Lower Bracket against the top 17 teams from Round 1 of the Lower Bracket.
In Round 1 of the Lower Bracket, the 17 teams who do not advance will be eliminated from the competition. In Round 2, 17 teams will move on to the Qualifier Finals while the remaining 10 teams will compete in the Last Chance Qualifier. The bottom seven teams in this round will be eliminated from the competition.
The top 10 teams from the Qualifier Finals will advance to the Global Final, while the remaining 24 teams will compete in the Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ). For teams from NA and EMEA, the LCQ will be their final opportunity to secure a spot in the Global Final. The LCQ will consist of five maps using traditional scoring, with only three teams moving on to the next round. The sixth map will be a Wildcard Map, and the winning team will automatically qualify for the Global Finals.
The format for the World Series of Warzone is a lengthy one, that will truly put competitive players to the test.
The Match Point rule, commonly used in other BR esports like Apex Legends, will be implemented in the tournament.
The concept of Match Point is quite straightforward. In order to be eligible, teams must reach a specific point threshold. Once they have met this requirement, the first team to win a map will be crowned champions.
WSOW 2024 Prize Pool
The prize pool for the 2024 World Series of Warzone will be $1 million, with all of it being allocated to the LAN Global Finals instead of being divided between online qualifiers.
Although the specific distribution of the prize pool has not been disclosed yet, it has been confirmed that the Solo YOLO champion will receive $50,000 instead of the previous $100,000. As a result, the remaining $950,000 will be divided amongst trios competing at the Global Finals.
