World’s first triple-folding phone could launch sooner than expected

While Apple has not yet launched its first foldable iPhone, the Chinese tech giant Huawei is getting ready to reveal a 10-inch triple-fold smartphone.

In an effort to create more compact and slimmer foldable smartphones, smartphone manufacturers are constantly pushing boundaries. However, Huawei has taken a unique approach by preparing to release the world’s first triple-fold phone.

According to reports from a Chinese website (via GSMArena), Richard Yu, the CEO of Huawei’s consumer business division, has announced that the triple-fold phone will be available for purchase in September.

At Huawei’s EV car delivery event, when asked about a customer’s inquiry, Yu refrained from disclosing any further information about the upcoming phone. However, he did confirm important details regarding its release.

Despite the continuous sanctions imposed on the company, the phone will still only be accessible in mainland China.

The triple-fold phone has garnered media attention before. In addition to numerous leaks and rumors substantiating its existence, it has also been observed on multiple occasions in public. Richard Yu has even been caught using the device while on the go.

It is uncertain whether the phone will be included in Huawei’s flagship Mate lineup or if it will be launched as part of a new series. The release of the phone is anticipated to occur before the unveiling of the Mate 70 series.

Despite some initial information, there is limited detail available. It has been reported that the device will have a 10-inch screen that can fold into three equal sections stacked on top of one another. This design could potentially create a larger and bulkier device, reminiscent of those seen in the early 2000s.

Nonetheless, according to the revealed images, Huawei appears to have successfully decreased the weight and thickness of their upcoming foldable phone. As a result, it will only be marginally thicker than a typical tablet-style foldable phone.

It is likely that Huawei has incorporated the new Silicon-Carbon battery in this phone, replacing the commonly used Lithium battery found in other devices. While these batteries are thinner and have a higher energy density, they do not offer the same fast charging capabilities as their traditional counterparts.
