After years of development, Wuthering Waves has finally arrived and its first set of gacha banners offers players a chance to obtain numerous rewards and characters. This in-depth preview will cover everything that can be obtained from both the event and standard banners during patch 1.0.

Wuthering Waves starts off its launch with a formidable character taking the lead. The event banner, Prevail the Lasting Night, showcases the one and only Jiyan, a renowned character known for their swift movements and impressive Aero damage. Staying true to Jiyan’s grand entrance, the featured weapon banner, Absolute Pulsation, boasts their ultimate broadsword, Verdant Summit.
Event Details
Each event banner requires players to spend premium currency in order to pull. The character banner requires Radiant Tides while the weapon banner requires Forging Tides. Players can purchase both currencies, as well as other currencies like Lustrous Tides, through the in-game shop using real money or premium resources like Astrite.
The pull percentages are actually quite decent. They are on par with other popular games such as Genshin Impact. Every 10 pulls will guarantee you a four-star character or weapon, and every 80 pulls will guarantee a five-star character. If you are unlucky and do not receive Jiyan within those 80 pulls, you still have a 50% chance of obtaining Jiyan through the guaranteed pity roll. And in case you do not get Jiyan on that roll, your next pity pull will guarantee that you receive him. This means that your chances of pulling Jiyan and Verdant Summit naturally are only at 0.8%.
In addition to the five-star characters and weapons, these banners also offer various other enticing rewards. The event character banner gives you the opportunity to obtain three four-star characters: Danjin, Chixia, and Mortefi. Furthermore, the weapon banner featuring Verdant Summit offers a chance to pull for several powerful weapons such as Dauntless Evernight, Variation, and Hollow Mirage.
For those who intend to play for an extended period of time or have the opportunity to buy some Astrite bundles, we highly recommend pulling for Jiyan and Verdant Summit. With this character and weapon combo, you can make significant progress in the game. Jiyan is a formidable damage-dealer in Wuthering Waves and when teamed up with Verdant Summit, can easily defeat enemies and bosses. Jiyan is an essential addition to any team.
Wuthering Waves Patch 1.0, Phase 1 – Starter and Standard Banner Preview
The standard banners are unlikely to change. It is safe to assume that this banner will remain unchanged for a considerable amount of time, if not permanently. Currently, there are three standard banners available, including the promotional starter banner called Utterance of Marvels, which is ideal for beginners.
Promotional Starter Banner – Utterance of Marvels
The promotional starter banner offers the opportunity to obtain one of five, five-star characters after 50 pulls. These characters are Verina, Encore, Calcharo, Lingyang, and Jianxin. Each character has their own unique abilities, but only one is guaranteed after 50 pulls. Once the banner closes, you will not be able to roll again. It is important to note that the banner also offers the chance to obtain four-star characters such as Yangyang, Chixia, Baizhi, Danjin
Standard Character Banner – Tidal Chorus
The final two standard banners in Wuthering Waves are considered to be the least desirable, as they do not offer any promotional discounts or additional incentives to improve your chances of obtaining certain characters. The standard character banner essentially offers the same characters as the promotional starter banner, but at a higher cost of 10 Lustrous Tides per 10 pulls. We recommend saving your pulls for the promotional starter banner before considering the standard character banner.
Standard Weapon Banner – Winter Brume Weapons
The standard weapon banner operates differently, as it mainly offers the chance to acquire actual weapons. However, the price remains the same at 10 Lustrous Tides for every 10 rolls. The probability of obtaining a five-star weapon is similar to that of the standard character banner, but with the added benefit of being able to select your desired weapon after 80 pulls. We recommend only pulling from this banner if you are seeking a specific weapon in the advanced stages of the game.
