According to recently released information, the highly praised X-Men ’97 is not the top-rated Marvel TV series of the year.
Disney Plus has a lineup of new TV shows for 2024, among them are multiple Marvel series, two of which have already been released on the platform. The five-episode miniseries for Echo made its debut in January, and X-Men ’97 premiered in late March.
Despite Echo receiving a mixed reception, X-Men ’97 still maintains its critical acclaim with a 98 percent Rotten Tomatoes rating. However, streaming viewership data reveals that one of these shows has captured a larger audience than the other.
According to Luminate’s analysis of streaming data (featured in Variety), Echo has emerged as the most popular Marvel show on Disney Plus in 2024. Luminate’s research shows that Echo makes up 11.8 percent of Disney’s viewership for original series.
As of December 29, 2023 to May 10, 2024, the second-highest viewed Marvel show is X-Men ’97, with 6.8 percent of total viewers tuning in. It is worth noting that this data was gathered during this specific time period.
Out of all of Disney Plus’ original programming, the first season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians in 2023 was the most popular, with 23.3 percent of viewers tuning in. The show’s success has led Disney to approve a second season.
Despite the fact that 2024 is not yet halfway through, the viewership rankings for each show may vary by the end of this year. This is because X-Men ’97 has yet to air its Season 1 finale, which is set to premiere on Wednesday, May 15. Additionally, a second season is already in the works for the show.
In addition, Marvel has three more television shows scheduled to debut later this year. These include the Agatha miniseries, Eyes of Wakanda, and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, all of which are expected to launch in 2024. However, as of now, no official air dates have been announced.
