As the third installment of the Deadpool cinematic saga, now known as Deadpool & Wolverine, is about to arrive in our cinemas, Shawn Levy’s film is certainly one of the most anticipated projects by fans. fans of superheroes, and more particularly by those of the Marvel universe.

Because Deadpool & Wolverine not only marks the return of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in their now cult roles, namely respectively that of Deadpool, aka “The Merc with a mouth” , and that of Logan, but it is also and above all the confirmation that mutants will indeed be an integral part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

And when we think of mutants, we inevitably think of the famous X-Men. Giancarlo Esposito would like to make this major change to Professor X before playing him

It was during his recent appearance in the Fade to Black podcast that Esposito once again returned to his interest in playing Charles Xavier, aka Professor this time, explaining that he wanted to make a major change to the character. He declared:

“[I think] it would be great to play Professor X in something other than a wheelchair, right? Because the physical idea of being in a wheelchair every day doesn’t appeal to me. I don’t feel that old and I don’t like to sit as much. But we could certainly find a solution. Maybe. Professor X was not always in a wheelchair, but that is part of the character’s evolution.

If this were to come to fruition, Esposito would then succeed the iconic incarnation of Patrick Stewart, whom fans were able to see again in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022). An appearance which was then perceived as the beginnings of the arrival of the X-Men in the MCU. And for those who can’t wait any longer for the return of the mutants, you can be patient with the animated series X-Men ’97, available from next week on Disney+.
