Xbox announces release date for Modern Warfare 3 on Game Pass

After much anticipation, Xbox revealed the release date for Modern Warfare 3 on Game Pass, making it the inaugural Call of Duty game to become a part of the subscription service.

On July 24, MW3 will officially join the list of games available on the Xbox Game Pass. However, access to the title will be limited to members of Game Pass Ultimate. Prior to this, Game Pass Ultimate was priced at $16.99. Nevertheless, on July 10, Xbox revealed that the cost will be increased to $19.99.

In light of the price increase, Game Pass subscribers directed criticism towards Call of Duty, citing the timing of the decision just months before the release of Black Ops 6 on the service. This also coincides with the addition of MW3 to the service. Some players brought up comments made by Xbox President Sarah Bond to Eurogamer on May 30, stating that BO6 would not be restricted to a new Game Pass tier.

Although it wasn’t a new tier, some players argued that the price change was influenced by CoD.

As the floodgates have been opened, other series entries on the service are also being requested by players.

“CharlieIntel inquired about the release date for the older Call of Duty games.”

Nevertheless, FaZe Scope countered CharlieIntel’s statement by stating that Xbox would face challenges in achieving the same feat unless significant changes were made by Activision.

According to Scope, the situation will not improve until the servers are fixed. He also mentioned that older COD games are extremely unstable.

Modern Warzone proposed the addition of World at War, CoD 4, MW2, MW3 (2011), BO1, BO2, and BO3 to Game Pass for Xbox.

However, at present, gamers will have to make do with MW3 and Black Ops 6 until the release of the new title on October 25.
