In the Practice Zone, players may stumble upon a hidden teaser that hints at potential Far Cry-inspired factions that could be added to XDefiant in the future.
Despite XDefiant’s five factions appearing to cater to a wide range of playstyles, there are still players who are anticipating the addition of new factions in the future. A recent discovery inspired by Far Cry has sparked numerous theories about the potential for a new faction to be introduced.
XDI shared on X (previously known as Twitter) that a player had found a small section in the Practice Zone map that contains multiple references to Far Cry New Dawn, specifically related to the Highwaymen faction.

Upon approaching the designated area, players may pick up on a major clue that the easter egg centers around the Highwaymen – the background music playing is the same anthem featured in Far Cry New Dawn. This has sparked speculation among XDefiant players that the anthem may potentially be incorporated into the game in the near future.
Despite their notorious criminal activities and lack of morality, the Highwaymen possess a vast arsenal of heavy weaponry that they can access at any time. Including them in XDefiant could offer unique abilities centered around firearms.
In Far Cry New Dawn, the Highwaymen are not considered the most favored faction, making it one of the least popular titles in the Far Cry series. User ‘Pugnuggetsxx’ questioned why the game featured the Highwaymen instead of the Pirates or Tribal Warriors from Far Cry 3.
The validity of this theory is yet to be determined, as it could potentially be just a hidden feature within the game. Additionally, Ubisoft has achieved a new player count record with XDefiant, despite receiving numerous complaints immediately following its release.
