Lead developer Mark Rubin of XDefiant has provided reassurance to players that the team is actively working on a highly requested hitbox fix.
Despite facing initial server issues upon its launch, Ubisoft’s free-to-play first-person shooter XDefiant has since been performing brilliantly.
Despite the game’s recent release, players are already urging Ubisoft to take swift action and address a variety of issues. In fact, one fan even playfully suggested creating a petition on May 24 in a post on X in order to catch the developers’ attention and resolve a frustrating hit registration problem.
After seeing the post, XDefiant Executive Producer Mark Rubin responded by reassuring the community that the development team is actively addressing the issue. He added a laughing emoji and emphasized that there was no need for a petition, as they are already working on solving it.
You don’t need a petition. 🤣 It’s something we are working on.

The community responded positively to the news, with several individuals commending the dev for addressing issues. One person expressed, “Seriously? Thank you for being transparent in your efforts to improve the game!”Another individual stated, “We appreciate your involvement with the community and addressing our concerns.”
Despite this, there were still some concerns raised in the replies. Multiple people pointed out that the issue with hit registration dates back to the game’s initial beta version.
The issue of hitreg has been present since the first beta and it seems like no progress has been made. A player expressed frustration, saying “What have you been working on?”Another player also questioned the efforts put into fixing the issue, stating “I’m glad you’re working on it, but wasn’t the entire last year supposed to be focused on fixing it?”
Despite any obstacles, the release of XDefiant proved to be a huge success for Ubisoft, surpassing EA’s Apex Legends day-one numbers and setting a new record.
According to Insider Gaming, the game gained one million unique players within the first 2.5 hours of its release and reached a peak of 500,000 concurrent users across all platforms.
