XDefiant’s criminally slow weapon progression needs major change

At launch, XDefiant boasts a strong selection of weapons. However, the process of leveling them up can be a tedious and lengthy one, thanks to the sluggish weapon progression system.

Despite a few matchmaking difficulties, XDefiant’s launch on all platforms was a success. The first-person shooter’s diverse selection of guns and maps provide an enjoyable gameplay, however, its weapon progression system leaves something to be desired.

The default weapons provided to players feel ineffective in terms of causing damage. Even in the Welcome Playlist with SBMM, starting weapons such as the M4A1 and MP5A2 require too much time to eliminate opponents, leading to the need for frequent reloading and making players susceptible to counterattacks.

Weapons can be enhanced with attachments within a loadout system similar to CoD. However, acquiring these attachments can be slow and even frustrating. It often takes multiple matches just to progress from level 1 to level 2, with the only reward being a basic red-dot sight.

Unlocking weapons can be quicker than unlocking attachments.

Until you reach a certain point in the game, which can take hours of gameplay, you will not be able to access powerful attachments like barrels and magazines. This can make the gameplay feel monotonous and lacking in progression. The only way to speed up this process is by purchasing Weapon XP Boosters, which are mostly only available through the Premium Battle Pass.

The main source of frustration among players appears to be the cumbersome weapon progression system. On the XDefiant subreddit, many players gathered to express their discontent with the slow weapon progression in a popular

The OP, in their post titled “Weapon progression is incredibly slow,”detailed their frustration with the slow progression. They stated, “After playing for approximately 5-7 hours, I have only unlocked a few gun attachments despite consistently getting 50 bomb games.”

The majority of commenters shared the same sentiment, including one who stated, “My biggest complaint is only having 3 weapons at level 2 after playing for 6 hours.”Some suggested that the progression should be accelerated, with one commenting, “It should only take 4-5 hours to fully max a gun. A 1-2 hour camo grind would be ideal.”

Since XDefiant is a free-to-play game, certain comments did imply that the slow advancement could potentially be a tactic to encourage the purchase of XP boosters, with one stating, “I believe Ubi is simply trying to entice players to buy double XP tokens for situations like these.”

The gradual progression of weapon levels is a common issue among players, and the system requires improvement before they become fatigued. On the topic of weapons, the top guns in the game and tips for quickly increasing the Battle Pass level are provided.
