xQc Calls for Serious Consequences for Kick Streamers Behind TwitchCon Disruption

Streaming phenomenon Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel has asserted that Kick streamers involved in the TwitchCon chaos should face “real repercussions” and believes it’s essential for the police to have been notified.

TwitchCon 2024 has concluded, featuring significant announcements regarding new platform features, yet it also became a stage for considerable drama throughout the weekend.

During the event, numerous streamers reported harassment, at times touching on allegations of sexual assault, and even physical altercations involving Kick broadcasters. Despite being a Kick streamer himself, xQc also experienced harassment when a “weirdo” from Kick began following him around.

Upon his return from the San Diego event, xQc addressed the situation, expressing that merely banning the troublemakers by Kick staff does not sufficiently convey that such behavior is unacceptable.

“We need actual, substantial repercussions. A ban will never be enough to change someone’s behavior,” he stated. “If you’re at a point where you attend IRL events and engage in behaviors like that… a ban isn’t going to resolve your issues with mental restraint. We need real consequences.”

The streamer further mentioned that police intervention should have been sought, especially given some alarming incidents, like a Kick streamer allegedly pushing someone towards a moving train.

“When people commit actual crimes or engage in outrageous behavior like that, law enforcement needs to be involved,” Lengyel elaborated. “That will send a clear message. That will effectively ‘ban’ anyone, regardless of their platform. You shouldn’t approach someone and engage in that kind of behavior.”

xQc’s comments come as he remains uncertain about his future on Kick following the expiration of his impressive $100M contract, and it’s not clear if these recent events will affect his decision.

In response to the TwitchCon incidents, Kick CEO Ed Craven mentioned that the platform is “constantly working on reviewing policies and improving,” though he claimed the actions of a few streamers do not “represent the wider platform.”
