xQc defends Kick after ex-staff’s “sinister” allegations against platform

Just one day after a former employee of Kick uploaded a video outlining their concerns with the company, xQc came to the defense of the streaming site.

On June 17, Melissa, a former staff member at Kick, posted a video on YouTube revealing the behavior of the platform’s employees. She stated in the video that she left the company due to the “extremely hostile”work environment.

According to her, there was a persistent disregard for the opinions and beliefs of others. This included regularly hearing the F-slur being used, not just as a joke but as a deliberate attack against the targeted individuals.

Melissa recounted a number of instances in which Kick was accused of mistreating an autistic streamer and using a well-known streamer’s battle with cancer as leverage to negotiate a lower salary.

Shortly after its release, many of Kick’s top content creators, such as Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel, who had recently entered into a $100M non-exclusive contract with the streaming platform in July 2023, quickly turned to their channels to share their reactions to the video.

xQc immediately connected the cancer anecdote with Kyedae, a treasured Twitch streamer who openly chronicled her fight against Acute Myeloid Leukemia throughout the year 2023.

Lengyel mentioned during the stream that, to the best of his knowledge, Kick and Stake did not contact the Twitch star.

“I inquired about any communication between Kyedae and Kick or Stake, but did not receive any confirmation. I even dispatched individuals to look into whether Kick had spoken to Kyedae, but they found nothing,” he stated.

Despite the lack of naming the streamer in question, it is widely known that Kyedae, who has been fighting cancer for the past year, is the former Kick employee’s target of accusations.

Melissa also accused Kick of boasting about “decimating”the pay rate for a special-needs streamer in his contract renewal. This sparked speculation about a potential connection between this incident and Adin Ross offering his friend JakeFuture27 a paid contract to stream with Kick.

Additionally, xQc commented on the aforementioned statements, stating that his recent salary increase is determined by his average number of concurrent viewers, which he estimates to be around 50.

During the stream, xQc disclosed that he is a member of the Kick team. Despite this, he still speaks out about any shortcomings he sees on the platform. He mentioned that the moderation was not up to par when he initially joined in 2023, but after having discussions with higher-ups, there have been significant improvements on the site.

Despite not streaming on Twitch as frequently as before, The Juicer still maintains a presence on the platform. However, on June 14, he was perplexed by the introduction of Twitch’s Power-ups feature, which enabled viewers to inundate the screen with emojis.
