xQc reflects on his four-year streak of winning Streamer of the Year

The 2024 Esports Awards have caused controversy within the streaming community, with xQc’s stance on the issue sparking a heated discussion among his followers.

Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel is a renowned content creator on the internet, with a combined total of 12.7 million followers on both Twitch and Kick. He has been live streaming for almost ten years, solidifying his presence in the online community.

As a result, the internet was sent into a frenzy when Twitch streamer Rivers, who has 6 million followers, was crowned above other prominent figures such as Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed at the Esports Awards.

Despite the outrage of many viewers who believed that Speed and Kai should have been named the victors due to their highly successful year, xQc remains unconvinced by this argument from fans.

Lengyel expressed his views on streamers’ follow counts determining their eligibility for an Award during a broadcast in August following the Awards ceremony. He stated that he does not believe in this criteria and even pointed out that if it were true, he would have been the winner for four consecutive years.

He stated that it is not a recent occurrence for things to be biased or incorrect.

The use of mathematics and analytics in determining the success of a streamer is often flawed. It is not as simple as just looking at the number of followers or viewers. If this were the case, I would have been the winner for four consecutive years prior to last year. This is not a matter of wishful thinking, but a fact based on calculations, with a significant margin of 2.5 to 3 times.

Asmongold also claimed that xQc was not the only streamer to bring up the issue of bias in the latest Esports Awards. He stated that the streamer’s victory was solely based on her gender as a woman.

“Asmon expressed frustration as he stated, “She was only chosen because she’s a female.”Asmongold continued, adding, “It’s humiliating and patronizing. And to top it off, she’s not even the best female streamer. It’s ridiculous and completely unfair.”

It should be noted, however, that the Streamer of the Year award was determined by fan votes. With a strong following of over 5 million on Twitter, Rivers’ loyal fans came together to support her and propel her to the top of the competition.

Despite widespread belief among netizens that Rivers’ victory at the Esports Awards was influenced by bias, she attributes her win to the support of her own fans. In a tweet, she stated that the win was “for her community.”
