Content creator xQc has voiced strong opinions regarding Twitch’s handling of a recent incident involving popular streamer Kai Cenat and magician Max. The situation escalated during Cenat’s highly publicized Mafiathon event, raising concerns about the safety of live streaming and the platform’s responsibility towards its users.
Kai Cenat’s Mafiathon: A Record-Breaking Event
Kai Cenat has made waves on Twitch with his Mafiathon, surpassing records for the most subscribers on the platform and featuring a roster of high-profile guests. However, the festivities took a controversial turn on November 27, when Magician Max executed a dangerous prank involving a staged hanging.
The Dangerous Prank Explained
During the chaotic stunt, Magician Max stood precariously on scaffolding surrounded by three nooses, instructing Cenat to pull a ripcord. The act initially presented the illusion of a hanging, only to reveal later that it was a pre-planned performance. Despite Cenat’s claims of ignorance regarding the stunt’s nature, the aftermath did not shield him from backlash.
Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel, known for his candid commentary, was particularly disturbed by the event. He suggested that Twitch should have imposed a ban on Cenat following the incident, emphasizing the precarious nature of such live-streamed antics.
xQc’s Controversial Stance on Twitch Regulations
In light of the prank, xQc expressed his belief that the stunt violated critical rules governing live streaming platforms. He compared the incident to other prohibited actions, stating, “If you do something like a fake swatting, it’s an instant ban. I think the same principle should apply here,” highlighting the potential for streamers to engage in reckless behavior for views.
This perspective harks back to previous instances, such as the ban of League of Legends streamer Trick2g in 2015, who faced consequences for staging a fake swatting incident, deemed a violation of Twitch’s Terms of Service.

Potential Psychological Ramifications
xQc elaborated that pranks of this nature pose not just a danger to physical safety, but also have the potential to inflict severe psychological repercussions on viewers. “Imagine the mental toll it could take—what if something went wrong? Just saying ‘oh, it’s just a prank’ doesn’t excuse that kind of recklessness,” he cautioned.
Despite the uproar, Kai Cenat maintains his position, denying any wrongdoing and continuing with his Mafiathon, which is scheduled to run until November 30.
