On Wednesday, October 30, 2024, the official X (previously Twitter) handle for the My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv 999 manga confirmed that the series has recommenced serialization. The much-anticipated 108th chapter is set to be released on Thursday, October 31, through the MF Comics’ Ganma! platform.
However, it was also revealed that My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv 999 will transition to an irregular serialization schedule. This change mirrors the recent decision made by Yoshihiro Togashi regarding his Hunter x Hunter series. Moreover, it appears that the mangaka, Mashiro, is still facing health challenges, which were significant factors during the manga’s last hiatus.
My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv 999 to Release Chapters Based on Mashiro’s Health
As the My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv 999 manga shifts to this irregular serialization starting with chapter 108, fans have already received news about the upcoming chapter 109. Currently, this chapter is anticipated to be published on Thursday, November 28, 2024, in Japan via the Ganma! imprint under MF Comics. So far, details for any chapters beyond the 109th have not been disclosed.
The release of chapter 108 concludes the latest hiatus for the manga, which initially began on February 22 of this year. An indefinite extension of this break was announced on June 13, during which Ganma! reported that Mashiro was primarily focused on recovery. No further updates regarding Mashiro’s health conditions accompanied the return of the manga.
Unfortunately, the specifics surrounding Mashiro’s health problems remain somewhat unclear and not widely reported, making it challenging to define the nature of these issues. However, the switch to an irregular serialization suggests a potential chronic condition. Regardless, fans are expressing their support for the mangaka and urging them to prioritize their health above the continuation of this cherished shojo series.
Mashiro’s My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv 999 first launched in the Ganma! magazine back in March 2018 and continues to be serialized today. The manga has been compiled into nine volumes so far, with a tenth volume scheduled for release in Japan on November 22, 2024. Three volumes have been translated into English, with two more set to debut in December 2024 and February 2025. Mangamo is the platform releasing the English version of the manga, providing the following description:
“Recently dumped, Akane is just about to quit the game she used to play with her boyfriend, when she meets Yamada in the same RPG. Yamada in real life turns out to be somewhat of a legend. The only problem is – he is ONLY interested in the game. As Akane’s feelings grow, will Yamada’s focus stay on the game?”
