YG Entertainment issued an official statement on September 2, stating their commitment to addressing the production and circulation of inappropriate deepfake content involving their artists.
The company reiterated their commitment to actively monitoring and addressing the widespread and malicious illegal activities occurring. They are taking necessary steps to remove and block the illegal videos and are pursuing all available legal actions, including criminal procedures, to address the issue.
YG Entertainment stressed the importance of continuing to take strong and strict measures against any unlawful actions that greatly undermine the integrity and reputation of our artists.
In the span of a week since the start of their targeted crackdown on deepfake-related sexual crimes, the police have received a total of 88 reports. Out of these reports, 51 victims have been identified and 24 suspects have been identified, prompting a comprehensive investigation.
