On September 2, YG Entertainment made a formal announcement expressing their commitment to combat the production and dissemination of inappropriate deepfake content (AI-generated synthetic videos) involving their artists.
The statement elaborated, “We are actively monitoring these widespread and harmful illegal activities and are engaged in efforts to eliminate and block the unauthorized videos. Furthermore, we are exploring all potential legal avenues, including criminal charges.”
YG Entertainment affirmed their resolve, stating, “We will persist in taking a strong and uncompromising stance against all illegal actions that significantly undermine the dignity and reputation of our artists.”
Meanwhile, the police have received 88 reports following their focused crackdown on deepfake-related sexual offenses, which commenced on August 28. It has been disclosed that there are 51 victims involved, and law enforcement has pinpointed 24 suspects, launching a comprehensive investigation.
