
Yoo Seung-jun Shares Heartfelt Childhood Memories from Korea
On March 18, renowned singer Yoo Seung-jun took to social media to share a touching nostalgic moment that transported his followers back to his childhood in South Korea.
In his post, he shared a video accompanied by the caption, “December 7, 1989. I was 13 years old (in my first year of middle school), and this is Songpa-gu Oju Middle School, where I studied until the day before my immigration to the U. S.” The video captures various familiar locations from his youth, including the school’s walls, playground, and main entrance, evoking a sense of nostalgia for many of his fans.

Emotionally reflecting on the memories the video stirred, Yoo Seung-jun remarked, “It looks just the same.” He clarified that the footage was not self-captured but was kindly taken by a fan who visited his old school, noting, “Thank you for sharing this with me.”
A Journey Through Fame and Controversy
Since his debut in 1997, Yoo Seung-jun has enjoyed immense popularity, thanks to chart-topping hits such as “Me Me Me, ” “Passion, ” and “Love Song.” However, his career faced significant turmoil in 2002 when he was engulfed in controversy after acquiring U. S.citizenship to avoid mandatory military service, resulting in a ban from re-entering South Korea.

As of November 2023, Yoo emerged victorious from a legal dispute concerning his overseas Korean visa, leading to a government mandate to reconsider his application if he opts to apply in the future. Nonetheless, despite this court ruling, the entry ban into his home country remains in effect.
