On October 4, acclaimed actress Youn Yuh-jung and director Kim Cho-hee made a guest appearance on Choi Hwa-jung’s popular YouTube channel, where they discussed a range of intriguing anecdotes.
During the video interview, Youn Yuh-jung shared a striking story about a prediction claiming she would pass away at the age of 75. Additionally, she showcased items from her bag, which notably included a pouch and a substantial envelope filled with cash. A noteworthy prophecy provided by a trusted doctor also sparked interest among viewers.
Choi Hwa-jung remarked on Youn Yuh-jung’s historic achievement as the first Korean actress to receive the prestigious Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the film Minari in 2021, stating, “Nobody anticipated that you would win such an award at that age.”
Director Kim chimed in, “They mentioned you would die in the year you received the Academy Award.” Youn replied, “My friend kept calling me, reassuring, ‘It’s okay; you’re still alive.’ Later, I found out that three different places reported my health as being quite poor. However, one old man claimed that I was destined to die.”
She elaborated, “When I inquired, ‘Did that old man really say I would die?’ my friend replied, ‘That old man in Cheongju is clueless. He doesn’t understand what the Academy is. But he indicated that something significant would occur at 75 and interpreted that major event as ‘dying’ since I would be elderly by that time,’” which brought laughter to the conversation.
