Before the launch of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, Meemaw, played by Annie Potts, was already a beloved character in Young Sheldon. Her presence was significant in the conclusion of Season 7, making her upcoming appearance in the spinoff no surprise at all.
Meemaw is set to make appearances in Episodes 1 and 2, joining Mary (Zoe Perry) and Missy (Raegan Revord). However, Potts’ recent TikTok has unveiled an unanticipated cameo—Meemaw’s boyfriend Dale (Craig T. Nelson).
Until now, there has been no hint that Dale would return to the show. Though not a crucial character in Young Sheldon, Dale has had a complicated relationship with Meemaw, with multiple breakups and reconciliations.
Nonetheless, his return could be logical. Following her house loss in Season 7 Episode 1, Meemaw was forced to move in with Dale, who also helped her out when her secret laundromat gambling operation was exposed.

In her TikTok clip, the Georgie & Mandy cast is seen enjoying themselves on set, showcasing characters from both the Cooper and McCallister families. As Potts films, Dale is spotted right in the center of Audrey’s kitchen.
The group seems to be preparing for a group photo (similar to those often posted on director Alex Reid’s Instagram), and there is an indistinct male figure in the background. While it may be a stretch, this could potentially be Lance Barber, aka George Cooper.
George’s death left a deep impact on every fan of Young Sheldon, but it’s worth noting that Barber has been spotted on the set of the spinoff.
While there’s currently no confirmation of George’s involvement, and it might just be hopeful speculation, it wouldn’t be shocking to see more surprise cameos as the show progresses.
