It’s not the first instance where George from Young Sheldon has received recognition in real life, but a recent funeral tribute may have surpassed all others.
Despite the conclusion of Season 7, fans of Young Sheldon are still coming to terms with the unexpected and heart-wrenching departure of Sheldon’s father George.
Since his funeral in Season 7 Episode 13, numerous tributes have been pouring in, including fan edits and real-life flyers. One new flyer even dubs George as the “King of Brisket.”
During George’s funeral, Meemaw saves Mary from getting too emotional during her eulogy by introducing a nickname that was brought up. As Meemaw reminisces about the first time they met, she fondly recalls George holding a beer in one hand and brisket in the other, bestowing upon him the title of “King of Brisket.”
The duo’s attention to Meemaw’s well-known brisket dates back to Season 1 and is expected to have an impact on the upcoming Season 7 of Young Sheldon, particularly during the funeral. Meemaw initially withheld her brisket recipe from George, leading to significant strain within the family dynamic.
When Sheldon recalls the recipe that Meemaw had told him when he was two years old, he attempts to broker a deal between George and Meemaw, ultimately leading to a tense alliance between the two. As time passes, Meemaw proudly proclaims to the church congregation that she considers George to be her son.
Despite the recent attention given to the brisket poster, it had originally gone unnoticed as many fans expressed their belief that a popular fan-made edit was more emotional than the actual funeral. Furthermore, younger fans have been spreading posters at their schools and constructing digital tributes.
